MARCO de Comunicación, the leading communications and public relations agency in Europe and Latin America, with its base in Spain, has announced the addition of a new multi-market client to its Food & Beverage department: Subway. Its team of consultants is responsible for managing the press office services and marketing activations for the Spanish market, as well as the design and implementation of the digital strategy and online content for Spain, Portugal, Italy and Malta.

With more than 50 years of experience behind it, Subway has positioned itself at the top of the QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) sector across half the world, and is currently undergoing a strong process of internationalisation with more than 21,000 franchises, allowing it to consolidate its position as one of the most recognised brands in the world.

At this stage of expansion, Subway has chosen MARCO for the development of its PR consumer strategy. In this way, the agency will provide its cross-cutting PR and digital consulting services, focused on brand creation. Furthermore, MARCO’s experience and international positioning, thanks to its 10 offices on four continents, will be reflected in the online actions within the digital content plan for Subway to be carried out on an international level.

“We are extremely proud to begin working with Subway, which joins our growing Food & Beverage client portfolio. Thanks to the specialisation of our team in this sector, together with Subway’s international potential, MARCO is consolidating itself in the communication of a sector with an ever-increasing demand among all audiences”, says Didier Lagae, CEO of MARCO.

“Subway’s challenge for the Mediterranean market is to re-launch the brand to build a business of the future. We want to work on the positioning of Subway to connect and attract the local consumer of each market, for them to discover and identify with our brand philosophy. For all this, we are very happy to be able to work with an agency like MARCO to help us design and implement our communications strategy in social networks and public relations”, says Inês Fonseca, Marketing Manager Mediterranean Europe SUBWAY.

With more than 44,000 establishments in more than 100 countries, 65 of which are in Spain, the U.S. chain serves more than 7 million sandwiches a day, making it the number 1 fast-service franchise in the world.
