Didier Lagae, founder and CEO of MARCO, has been declared the winner of the Best PR Professional in Europe prize at the prestigious PRWeek Global Awards held in London. MARCO was also amongst the top 3 finalists for the Best Agencies in Continental Europe. MARCO was the only Spanish agency nominated in the category and Lagae was the only professional representing Spain’s growing communications and PR sector. These two accolades serve to further consolidate the company’s position as the leading agency in Europe and Latin America with its head office in Spain as it continues as the most awarded and best valued agency for an eighth consecutive year.

The PRWeek Global Awards form part of an elite group of the most prestigious awards on the global scene making this most recent success, in two of the most sought after categories, even more impressive and also reflects how widely the achievements of the agency and Lagae in 2018 have been recognised. A haul of more than 30 awards includes winning nine Stevie Awards, 11 Mercury Awards and a distinguished IPRA Golden Award, among others. Growth in revenue of more than 20% was also secured helping to drive its expansion into Latin America with new offices opening in Mexico City, Bogota and Lima taking MARCO’s total to 10 offices, across four continents worldwide supported by more than 130 consultants from 18 different nationalities.

MARCO is standing out for its country brand expertise, highlighted by the recent launch of Lagae’s book, Country Brand, a Country a Branded Country, whilst its increased international presence now allows it to operate across globally. The strategic decision to vouch for corporate reputation building and brand building as two distinct and important areas for business development in the PR world are also contributing to the company’s upward trajectory. Meanwhile, its position as a champion of sustainability has been consolidated by the agency’s recent collaboration with The Climate Reality Project, Lagae’s status as a Climate Leader and its extensive portfolio of clients who are similarly committed to the fight against climate change.

On winning the award, Lagae commented, “We were proud to be the only representatives of the Spanish PR sector nominated for this award but to take an accolade of this kind home from the PRWeek Global Awards also speaks volumes about the continued success of the company and its personnel on the international stage, as well as the direction we are heading in terms of global recognition. Thanks to our over 130 consultants at MARCO in our 10 offices on 4 continents and to all our clients. Without you this would not be possible.”
